  53. Installation and description
  54. ----------------------------

  56. MicroBase requires at least Amiga OS 2.04, 1 MB RAM and about
  57. 2 MB of free disk space.
  58.  
  59. Use MicroBase to manage recipes, pictures, contacts, and
  60. documents.
  61.  
  62. Thanks to its "external fields" which contain paths to files,
  63. you can view and process pictures from within MicroBase. Datatypes
  64. are supported via "Multiview". Multiple database files may be
  65. linked using "references". Inconsistent data will be refused
  66. by MicroBase. When you enter data to be saved to database
  67. records, press the <Help> key in order to get a description of
  68. the data MicroBase expects you to enter.

  70. By using random access files, MicroBase does not require much
  71. memory. Database files are sorted "in-place" via virtual memory.
  72. MicroBase follows the concept of database transactions. This allows
  73. MicroBase to rebuild the database file after a system crash. The
  74. database files may be used by several people at the same time; records
  75. or files will be locked to achieve that.

  77. MicroBase ships with several utilities providing data exchange with
  78. other database management systems like dBASE and SuperBase. A preferences
  79. tool and a database browser GUI are also provided.

  84. MicroBase is a shareware program. After registration, you will
  85. receive a keyfile which unlocks this and all future versions of
  86. the software.

  88. Without such a keyfile, only databases with up to 20 records are
  89. supported and the "virtual mode" is disabled.
